While planning for my trip to Porto with Ace Camps, I immediately thought that I’d love to take one of our Seriously Have a Good Day shopper bags to give to a couple who made a big impression on me and Paul last time we were in Porto. So I was super thrilled when Miguel and Sako of Namban Oporto Kitchen Cafe said they’d be happy to participate, and even more thrilled when I got to visit them for lunch and hand over a shopper.
In case you don’t know, the idea behind
Seriously Have a Good Day is that I want Skinny laMinx to be a place of work where people can grow and develop themselves into effective, creative human beings. I believe this is important because people who are happy and fulfilled and creative at work are people who are able to continue to spread that positive energy out into the world.
I’m inspired by other businesses and people who put this kind of positive working energy into practice, and I’m trying to share those stories along with our own on social media, and that’s where Sako and Miguel and their beautiful cafe, come into it.
Not only is the food created and presented with careful love and attention, every corner of the cafe has the same message, as does Miguel’s sustainably-made jewellery and fashion. Together it all tells the story of a life and work that’s intentional and congruent. I find it super-inspiring to encounter lives lived this way, and I hope you do too.
I asked Sako and Miguel a couple of questions about their days at work:
How does the way you spend your working day add to your experience of life? Meeting wonderful people with similar mind from different parts of the world.
What are the elements of a ‘good day’ at work for you? Happy customers leaving our café with lovely words and big smiles in their faces and quite a few of them keep coming back.
What fills you with hope? People becoming aware of the need to lead a sustainable life, although we still need more of this.
Thank you. I hope you have a seriously good day!
